San Niclò, Latsch GR, Engadin house

Power plant instead of energy waster.

In the future, every building will be its own power station. The 350-year-old, listed Engadin house has been carefully restored and transformed into a zero-energy balance house using modern technology. Photovoltaic and solar thermal panels on the extensions generate renewable energy, while surplus heat is stored in the rock.

A modular design concept adapts the house to modern living requirements, with the colour scheme picking up on the original lighting moods of the rooms. A specially designed ornament interprets the local ashlar painting in a contemporary way and can be found in wall paintings, carpets and a mirror in the master bathroom.
